After this families winter western maternity session – you can see that session here, but don’t worry I’ll link it at the bottom again so you can see it after these! We couldn’t wait to bring that same theme into their sweet baby Gatlins newborn session. Mom and Dad wanted to incorporate those subtle western vibes while keeping everything personal and unique to their family. The result? The sweetest cowboy newborn pictures with a rustic, heartfelt touch.
We decided to keep the setup simple and focused on natural, earthy tones—dark woods, browns, and neutral colors that really fit that western vibe. Madeline also wanted to include a little bit of green, which added the perfect pop of color while still keeping everything cohesive. It was perfect!
The personal touches really made this session special. Dad brought his cowboy hat, which also made its debut in their maternity session, adding a meaningful connection to both sessions. We used it in Gatlin’s solo portraits, photos with Dad, and even in some of the family shots. To add even more of that western charm, Mom brought a rodeo rope that had been used by her grandmother. Another special touch was a pair of cowboy boots that Dad had worn when he was a toddler—such a sweet, nostalgic details.
One of the most meaningful parts of the session was honoring Gatlin as a rainbow baby. Mom and Dad wanted to include a nod to their journey. I used this beautiful rainbow prop designed specifically for newborn photography. It added just the right amount of symbolism to honor their story.
Of course, we captured all the tiny details—and even a few fun shots of those sweet little baby expressions. I like to call these baby mugshots. They’re always some of my favorite photos from newborn sessions, and oh boy, did Gatlin have the personality for them!
This session flowed beautifully, and the final album turned out stunning. Seeing it next to their maternity album made it even more special—two chapters of their story captured in such a timeless way.
Here is what Mom shared about their experience in the studio:
Goldie was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Her exceptional talent, professionalism, and dedication to what she loves doing make her the number one best choice when it comes to taking family, newborn, birth, milestones, and etc she can do it all! Just from my personal experience, I had had some issues getting pregnant and keeping the baby so when me and my husband found out the exciting news, it was hard for me to be excited I was so scared and nervous! But Goldie made me feel beautiful, happy, and just truly excited for my little miracle. She does beautiful work that comes from the heart! Goldie captures memories that will last forever. She listens to your preferences and works hard to achieve your dream photos!
